The best running shoe is the one that feels right on your foot from the first step. Ignore the marketing and check these three things.
What matters
- Room for your toes. Leave a thumb's width between your longest toe and the front of the shoe.
- A heel that stays put. Your heel should not slip when you walk or jog.
- Cushioning you like. Soft for easy miles, firmer for speed. Try both if you can.
Replace your running shoes every 600 to 800 kilometres, or as soon as the sole feels flat.
